I'm rereading The Beauty's Blade and thought I would make some informal read-along posts on the off-chance folks might be interested!

(my plan is to post an entry with threads for five chapters and a brief summary/blurb for them once a week or so)

Chapter 1: Yu Shengyan

In which we meet Fu Wanqing (and see some of Yu Shengyan) and are introduced to the setting.

I find it amusing that Fu Wanqing is already so fixated on Yu Shengyan already even though she hasn't actually met her until the end of this chapter! I kinda love that Fu Wanqing is in front of Yu Shengyan's room in the House of Flowing Gold before her brain catches up with her and she seizes on 'I want to duel her' as her reason for being there.

Chapter 2: House of Gold

In which we get to see Yu Shengyan and Fu Wanqing interact in person and Fu Waning fight people.

I like how bewildered Fu Wanqing is by Yu Shengyan's refusal to duel her. I'm also enjoying how the fight scenes are described.

Chapter 3: Painted Nudes

In which there is flirting and Fu Wanqing tries to get her duel.

Chapter 4: Nighttime Guest

In which a deal is made.

Chapter 5: House Arcane

In which we meet the Zhong brothers and find out a little of Fu Wanqing's plans.
